The start of a new school year is always an exciting time. New classes, hanging out with old friends, and a lot of new memories to be made. Although a new school year can mean numerous fun activities, it also means a great deal of work. Therefore, it’s important to have everything school-related in order.

First, it’s vital to make sure that you are organized for the semester ahead. For me, I find it helpful to write every major test, quiz, and project for each class in my planner once I get my syllabus on the first day. Also, for each student org that I am a member of, I write the date and time of all meetings or performances in my planner as well in a different color. I also put these events in my calendar on my phone so that they are always easily accessible.

Next, it’s important to make a list of any major goals you would like to accomplish or events that you would like to attend during the semester. For me, it is helpful to visually see everything that I would like to achieve during the semester in order to make sure that I stay on track. Also, it reminds me to keep an eye out for the events that I listed as exciting, such as concerts, guest lectures, or cultural showcases.

Finally, catch up on sleep! Make sure to start off the new year well-rested, or you will definitely regret it later. Without sleep, you won’t be able to perform your best during the year, which will make it difficult to accomplish your newly set goals. Sleep is essential.

Regardless of what goals you set for yourself this semester, remember to have fun! You’ll never be able to relive these moments, so enjoy them while they last. Best of luck with your school year!
